Photography Practice

I’ve invested a fair amount of money in some photographic equipment, and have turned a spare bedroom into a studio. That’s what’s been occupying a lot of my time lately. However, this will allow me to present higher quality images of whatever I’m talking about at the moment.

If this doesn’t look any better than the stuff I’ve done before, don’t tell me…I’ll just go sit in the corner and cry if you do.

You have always presented great quality media.

    Keep up the good work!

The quality of photography in the context of the AR world never ceases to amaze me. There are some that rival fashion photographers in skill, ie: Stickman.

So you finally bought a Hasselblad?

Looks good. You can even see the imperfections on the side of the lower above the trigger guard. Keep up the good work.

Hate to say it, but I always thought your pictures were fantastic. The current one is really great tho; with it’s clarity of the texture of the lower.

If you can see that it’s better; that ought to be good enough. 🙂

  5. Nice! What camera/lenses/equipment are you working with now?

    • And what sort of lighting are you using? Your photography is fantastic.

      • Thanks. Up until the last few days I was taking photos in my garage, which had 8 40 watt fluorescent shop lights in groups of 4 at right angles to each other. I was using long exposures, 5-6 seconds on white backgrounds and 10-15 on cordura.

I switched to 2 110 watt flash units with softboxes and a 40 watt light that is currently being used with a variety of colored “gels” and/or reflective umbrellas. I am definitely still trying to figure out what is ideal, it varies depending on camera angle and the item I’m photographing.

    • Thanks. Most of the stuff you see is taken with a Canon 20D or a Canon Rebel XT. Previously I was using an 18-55 kit lens for most shots and a Canon 50mm EF 50mm 2.5 Macro for close up shots. I just bought a Zeiss 50mm f1.4 lens, it is definitely “better” but I need to improve my skills to get the most out of it.

Doesn’t Ichiro Nagata shoot with a Nikon 20D? Your photos look good Andrew!! Keep it up. Your whole site..the information, presentation, authenticity are all well planned and executed and extremely professional. You website is my first stop in the morning…followed by Drudge then Defense Review….

I think you just cranked it up to 11.

Is that a Rainier Ultra match barrel and if it is are we going to get a 100 yard accuracy report for it? 🙂

Thanks for all your hard work.
